The nursing services department renders comprehensive 24 hours nursing care to both out patients and in patients. For continuity, services are rendered with coordination by the compound office.

The department functions by attending to health care needs of patient through individualized care and also involvement of patients in their care through health education.
Provision of adequate health information to patient and family.
Provision of airway ventilator support to critically ill patients.
Conduct initial and ongoing assessment of patients including care before, during and after surgeries.
Planning and implementation of physiological, psychological and sociocultural nursing care of patients.
Provision of counselling and advocacy services
Motivation of staffs to embrace modern trends in health care delivery through continuing education.

Department unit and staff position
There are sixteen (16) units in the department with total bed complement of 227. The total staff strength is made up off 241 nurses and 168 auxiliary staff.

The department has witnessed expansion with the creation of the Female Spinal Ward, the Acute Bones Unit, the Obstetrics and Gynecology Unit.
The intensive care unit has additional supply of cardiac monitors while the Accident and Emergency Unit now has cardiac monitor for effective patient monitoring.
Recently all unit were supplied with pedal bins for easy waste disposal.
There is tremendous increase in the number of dressing packs available to meet up with the increase in turn out of patients especially out patients for wound dressing.
Revitalization of the broken-down trollies and stretchers with brand new wheels fixed which has made work very easy.
The department has recorded 95% success in nursing of Post-operative clients.
