The National Orthopaedic Hospital, Dala is the foremost Orthopaedic service/training centre in Northern Nigeria. About 1500 elective surgeries in all fields of orthopaedics and traumatology are performed per year.

The scope of fellowship in Adult Reconstructive Surgery covers the surgical management of primary and secondary degenerative conditions of the hip and knee joints, revision arthroplasty as well as joint preserving surgeries. While the scope of fellowship in Spine covers the management of post traumatic, degenerative, post infective conditions as well as spine deformities/tumours.

The main objective is to expose the fellow to the full spectrum of arthroplasty and spine issues including preoperative care, patient and implant selection, operative techniques and postoperative care.

There are also ongoing research projects and the fellow is encouraged to get involved in basic science research dedicated to the study of musculoskeletal disorders. The Dala Journal of Orthopaedics (DJO) provides fellows the opportunity to publish both their individual and collaborative research effort.
